Undergraduates enrolled in the Bioengineering program at the University of Toledo must complete requirements in five different areas in order to graduate. These requirements are:

  1. Basic science and mathematics core courses (45 hours):
    BIOL 2150, 2160, 2170, 2180 (10 hours)
    CHEM 1230, 1240, 1280, 1290 (10 hours)
    MATH 1850, 1860, 2850, 3860 (15 hours)
    PHYS 2130, 2140 (10 hours)

  2. Bioengineering and engineering core courses (47 hours):
    EECS 2300, CIVE 1150 (7 hours)
    Refer to the Bioengineering courses page for a listing and description of required Bioengineering courses (40 hours).

  3. Technical electives (15 hours):
    A total of 15 hours in technical electives is required; a minimum of 6 hours must be selected from 4000-level BIOE courses. See Technical Electives and Elective Sequences for more details.

  4. Communication skills, social sciences, humanities, and multicultural issues (21 hours):
    ENGL 1110, ENGL 2950 (6 hours)
    Humanities, social science and multicultural electives (15 hours)

  5. A minimum of three semester-long co-op experiences.
